Rockaway Capital completes its investment in Alkohol.cz, which wants to boost its position on the domestic market and expand into Western Europe

Rockaway Capital, which has been investing in the internet economy and e-commerce since 2015, aims to use its skills and experience to boost the position of Alcohol.cz on the domestic market and to help it expand into Europe. In the very near future this will primarily involve Germany, where Rockaway owns shares in the brands Ab in den Urlaub and Fluege.de, which belong to the Invia Group, and since last year also the Bringmeister on-line supermarket. Under Rockaway’s leadership, the latter has already succeeded in expanding its services to Augsburg, increasing the number of grocery items available for same-day delivery, and is preparing for further geographical expansion. “We see Rockaway Capital as a leader in the Czech internet economy. Its upcoming cooperation with Alcohol.cz is a logical step that is in line with our long-term goals, which are to broaden our range of services and, above all, expand to the Western market,” says the CEO and founder of Alcohol.cz, Dominik Berdych.

The Covid-19 pandemic significantly accelerated the growth of e-commerce throughout the world. This is also among the reasons why Alcohol.cz had an exceptional year, during which revenues grew to almost CZK 200 million. The internet vendor’s services include, for example, on-line auctions of premium and investment alcohol, last year mediating sales in the amount of CZK 17 million, or 90-minute express deliveries within Prague. In 2021 Alcohol.cz also opened a new warehouse in Satalice, which along with the existing one in Žižkov offers a total storage floor area of 1050 m2. This has quadrupled capacity and has allowed
expansion of the area where express delivery is offered.

There is no other e-shop specializing in alcohol on the domestic market that offers 90-minute express delivery in Prague. Rockaway plans to continue on the development of “quick commerce”. “One of the main touchstones of our strong growth strategy that we brought to Bringmeister consisted of accelerating deliveries to our customers. That’s something Alcohol.cz already succeeded in implementing prior to our investment. Our goal is to continue working with this service model within the scope of expansion to the European market, where we see synergy with Bringmeister,” explains Rockaway Capital investment partner Dušan Zábrodský.
