Viktor Fischer – New Asset to Rockaway Ventures

Viktor Fischer – New Asset to Rockaway Ventures

Rockaway start-up division gets a new asset – Viktor Fischer. He will help dozens of technology companies in Rockaway Ventures portfolio succeed on global market.

Last year, the investment group Rockaway completed several big transactions in the segment of e-commerce; however, start-ups are still an integral part of its strategy. “Our long-term objective is to create a strong technology group. To put it simply, we apply two main approaches: we enter regional Internet companies which have potential, strong position and stable business model; and under Rockaway Ventures we support technology start-ups with global aspirations,” Jakub Havrlant summarizes the strategy.

“I am taking up my new role with the aim to make Rockaway Ventures the best investor in Central and Eastern Europe, and help local start-ups succeed globally,” Viktor Fischer says. One part of his work will be also the development of existing projects in the portfolio. “Projects such as Bileto, SQLdep or ProductBoard are based on the most modern technologies and have a chance to create really global services. Storyous, for instance, is just about to enter Polish market, which may be a crucial moment. Also other projects started very well. I believe that we will manage to create a real success story, and in best-case scenario not just a single one, “ Viktor Fischer says.

Viktor Fischer spent 5 years with McKinsey & Company, a leading consulting firm, where he worked as Junior Partner focusing on strategy and corporate finance. Accelerators Startupyard, Wayra in Prague or Slovak accelerator the Spot know him as a mentor, as he was working for them for three years. He is also an investor in several technological start-ups.

Prior to McKinsey&Co he was living in France for eleven years, where he co-founded Innovatrics – a technology startup providing fast biometric identification worldwide. In addition, he was also teaching project management at the Faculty of International Law at a university in Paris. Viktor holds Master’s degree from HEC Paris and MBA from INSEAD.

Viktor continues the work of Dušan Zábrodský, who was focused on start-up support of Rockaway portfolio companies, and now gains more space for his other activities under Rockaway.
