Rockaway presents Solana Hacker House Prague as world tour wraps up in Europe

The Solana blockchain ecosystem is visiting Prague from March 1 to 6 as part of the Solana Hacker House world tour. The Solana Foundation x Rockaway Hacker House is the only stop of Solana Foundation in Europe and is presented by Rockaway, an early backer of Solana since 2018. This unique six-day offline event is open to developers from Europe or anywhere in the world with an interest in building on Solana.

The Solana Hacker House world tour kicked-off on February 1 in Los Angeles, with developers from Solana Labs continuing on to Seattle, Singapore, Moscow, and Dubai, and this week is wrapping up the global event in Prague, where the results of local projects will be announced. The selection of the Czech Republic reflects its status as a significant contributor where blockchain applications are being developed. The event started with an arrival of the “Hack Train” – a dedicated Solana x Rockaway which left on March 1 from Berlin to Prague. Developers then moved to Prague’s Paralelni Polis and La Fabrika, where the event is happening.

“Cryptocurrencies and blockchain have a long tradition in the Czech Republic and Slovakia since 2011, when, for example, SlushPool, Trezor or Paralelni Polis were established. Our goal is to make Czechia and Slovakia more visible as a Central European hub for the development of blockchain technologies. That is why The Solana Foundation x Rockaway Hacker House will be held in Prague this March. Developers will have a great opportunity to learn how development works on Solana and move the entire ecosystem ahead through their own projects,” said Viktor Fischer, Managing Partner of Rockaway Blockchain Fund and one of the Investment Partners of Rockaway Capital.

The Solana blockchain works as an operating system on which decentralized applications ranging from DeFi (decentralized finance) to NFTs can be created, similar to the Ethereum blockchain. Its undeniable advantages are price and speed, where it can process up to 65,000 transactions per second. It currently processes around 3000 transactions per second and has nearly $9bn of value locked on chain.

Developers have a unique opportunity to participate in a comprehensive educational program focused on applications related to DeFi, NFT or gaming. The program also includes presentations of important projects from the Solana ecosystem and mentoring from partners and personalities from Rockaway. Projects that take part in the event include Neon Labs, Neodyme, Allbridge, Metaplex, Marinade, Wintermute and Ackee Blockchain. There are also exclusive evening events in Prague clubs during the week and a side event for Solana validators.
