The Office for the Protection of Competition Approved the Acquisition of Heureka by Investment group Rockaway Capital

The Office for the Protection of Competition has cleared the acquisition of Heureka Shopping, running portals Heureka.cz and Heureka.sk, by Rockaway Capital. The clearance includes commitments by Rockaway that are intended to ensure the continued independence of Heureka. Financial support for the whole transaction which can be completed after final steps are taken, was provided by investment groups PPF, Daniel Křetínský and Patrik Tkáč.

The confirmation from the Office for the Protection of Competition includes commitments relating to Heureka’s “Verified by Customers” that are intended to ensure the continued independence of Heureka:  “Heureka will work independently from other online stores of the Rockaway Group, as we have always intended. In the case of the Verified by Customer service, Heureka will continue to use protection as they already do via Heureka Data Use Codex,” says Michaela Papežová, spokeperson of Rockaway.” Even though the proceedings took longer than we had expected, we appreciate that the Office was dealing with all objections in detail, thanks to which there will not be any doubts concerning Heureka’s independence in the future. Our main priority will be to support Heureka in providing transparent and customer-oriented services.”

“Good relations with our business partners has always been, and will continue to be, key for Heureka. We will keep on providing the same service to everyone regardless of our ownership structure. We consider Rockaway a strong partner with perfect knowledge of the local market and e-commerce business, thanks to which they are able to support and understand our strategy,” says Tomáš Braverman, the CEO of Heureka. “I’m happy to meet representatives of e-shops in person to openly discuss how our business works. I must admit, I don’t understand the unprecedented attack on our independently functioning services,” adds Braverman.

Shopping portal Heureka is the biggest price comparison tool in the Czech Republic, and with 3 million users every month it is among the TOP 10 most visited web servers on the Czech Internet. Currently, there are more than 16 million products from tens of thousands of online stores on Heureka. Based on customer satisfaction surveys, it awards the certificate “Ověřeno zákazníky” (Approved by customers) to selected online stores, and the best ones are awarded in the survey “ShopRoku” (Shop of the year).
